Black Friday Photo Shoot

This year I am happy to say I neither participated in or had to photograph the craziness that is Black Friday. Instead I had a lovely afternoon photographing a couple and their young daughter in the studio. It was a beautiful day so we started shooting outside in the backyard and then moved inside to shoot some Christmas light inspired photos (with the help of my sister Angelica who held the lights in front of the camera). Below are a few of my favorites from the afternoon.

LSU vs Alabama

After a long and busy morning Saturday helping get the MHS colorguard get ready to compete at their final competition of the season, I headed to Baton Rouge to shoot the LSU vs Alabama game. I was pretty tired when I arrived at the stadium, having been up and going not stop since about 4:30am. Despite being a bit tired though I shot the game as I would any other football game. Even though I am an LSU fan and would have loved to see the Tigers win the game, I thought it was a great game to shoot with lots of action and emotion. Below are my favorite images from the night, including the shot of the winning touchdown by Alabama.

End to Another Season

Saturday night marked the end to another marching band season. I couldn't be more happy with what the Mandeville High School colorguard was able to accomplish this season. A best colorguard award last week at Circuit Championships and superior rating at the Louisiana Showcase of Marching Bands on Saturday are the result of the huge amount of individual growth, team unity and of a collective desire to strive for the highest. I am very excited for what the future holds for this program. With that being said, I wanted to share some of my favorite photos of the Mandeville colorguard and band from the past two weeks from Circuit Championships last Saturday to a busy Friday and Saturday of performances.

It took over two hours to get hair and makeup done Saturday morning before heading to Lafayette to compete at Showcase. It was a long day for the colorguard with a 6am start time but it was an even longer day for me (all very much worth it). Immediately following their performance, I drove from Lafayette to Baton Rouge to shoot the LSU vs Alabama game. While LSU may not have won the game, I came out with some great images (which I will share on the blog later in the week). Between a successful performance by Mandeville and capturing some nice images it was a great Saturday! Enjoy the photos and congratulations Mandeville on a great season!

Sunset Photo Shoot

About a week ago I took group and individual photos for a youth cheerleading squad from Madisonville, Louisiana. We decided to shoot at the Lakefront in Old Mandeville right before sunset. I was a little worried when we got a late start that the light would be completely gone for the photos but I think the color in the sky worked for a nice backdrop. The kids were so well behaved and I think everyone had fun on the shoot. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the evening.

Sunday at the Lakefront

About two weeks ago, a good friend of mine visited the studio for some headshots. After we were finished with the formal headshots we decided to have a little fun and take advantage of the beautiful afternoon. So, after shooting some photos outside in the backyard we walked two blocks to the Lakefront. Apparently, a lot of people had the same idea we had, including several other photographer's. The light was perfect and the sunset was amazing. It was a photographers heaven and if I were still working for newspapers I would say it was feature photo heaven. Below are some of my favorite photos from the afternoon.
